An annex of The 8 Museum is a city in which encounters have occurred. Unlike the annexes of other institutions, it holds no building, employs no staff, and has acquired nothing. Its collection remains permanently installed where it was found — on painted tile, blue enamel, orange cloth, and Mallorcan stone — and is maintained, without their knowledge, by the residents, the weather, and the municipal services of the city itself.

The Alcúdia Annex was established in May 2025, in the same week as its larger neighbour Palma, and then spent sixteen months as the museum's best-documented case of an annex in fact but not in paperwork. One hundred and sixteen works — eighty-nine in Alcúdia, twenty-seven in Pollença — were accessioned across six days; the nomenclature committee, which cited the annex by name in every edition of its list of pending business, is pleased to close the matter and asks that its patience be understood as a form of regard. Each of the annex's works was photographed in situ, untouched, under existing conditions, and left exactly as it was. Visitors to Alcúdia are advised that the collection remains on public display. Every work was last verified on the day of its encounter; what the weather, the council, and the ordinary attrition of the world have since deaccessioned, the museum does not undertake to know.
