An annex of The 8 Museum is a city in which encounters have occurred. Unlike the annexes of other institutions, it holds no building, employs no staff, and has acquired nothing. Its collection remains permanently installed where it was found — on rubbish-collection notices, vending machines, a lump of ice, and green enamel — and is maintained, without their knowledge, by the residents, the weather, and the municipal services of the city itself.

The Kawasaki Annex was established on 22 October 2025, sixty-six of its works accessioned in a single day between arrival in Japan and departure for the Kumano annex, whose pilgrimage began four days later. It is the museum's first annex in the Kantō region, the country's other Osaka, and the committee regards it as the museum's principal holding of the industrial numeral: eights on warehouse doors, shutters, and the backs of things. A further six works were added on the return in November, when the practitioner's foot was in no condition to add more. Each of the annex's works was photographed in situ, untouched, under existing conditions, and left exactly as it was. Visitors to Kawasaki are advised that the collection remains on public display. Every work was last verified on the day of its encounter; what the weather, the council, and the ordinary attrition of the world have since deaccessioned, the museum does not undertake to know.
