An annex of The 8 Museum is a city in which encounters have occurred. Unlike the annexes of other institutions, it holds no building, employs no staff, and has acquired nothing. Its collection remains permanently installed where it was found — on red enamel, green paint, brass, a striped awning, and the whitewash of the harbour — and is maintained, without their knowledge, by the residents, the weather, and the municipal services of the city itself.

The Piran Annex was established on 14 September 2025 and completed the same afternoon: thirty-three works on a peninsula small enough that the practitioner reached the lighthouse before running out of eights, which the committee regards as the ideal size for an annex. Slovenia's coast is forty-six kilometres long and Piran holds most of what is worth seeing on it. The annex is the museum's second in the country after Ljubljana, and its only one on the Adriatic. Each of the annex's works was photographed in situ, untouched, under existing conditions, and left exactly as it was. Visitors to Piran are advised that the collection remains on public display. Every work was last verified on the day of its encounter; what the weather, the council, and the ordinary attrition of the world have since deaccessioned, the museum does not undertake to know.
