the greens

Green is the colour the museum keeps looking for. This room holds every work whose dominant colour falls within green as the committee has now fixed it: from 60°, where green has finished arguing with yellow, to 189°, the last degree before it conceded to cyan. Both boundaries were arrived at properly — the museum first overshot at each end on purpose, hung the results, and looked at them. The lime end went first; the cyan end followed. The degrees are marked below, and the ruling is now the museum's.

Dominant colour is computed for every work at ingest, without regard to what the work is or where it stands; the arrangement here is the archive's own, not the practitioner's. The committee notes that the true greens — the middle of this room — are the rarest holdings in it, and that the museum has never once gone looking for a colour on purpose.
