An annex of The 8 Museum is a city in which encounters have occurred. Unlike the annexes of other institutions, it holds no building, employs no staff, and has acquired nothing. Its collection remains permanently installed where it was found — on brass buttons, letterboxes, painted stone, one yellow pharmacy board, and a pink wall — and is maintained, without their knowledge, by the residents, the weather, and the municipal services of the city itself.

The Bergamo Annex was established on 26 August 2024, and completed the same day: one hundred and thirty-three works accessioned between a morning coffee in the lower town and an evening in the upper. Larger single days exist — Hong Kong took four hundred and sixty-two works on one June afternoon in 2025 — but no other annex of this size was begun and finished between the same sunrise and sunset. The committee has been asked whether this reflects well on Bergamo or on the practitioner, and has declined to rule. The annex sits forty-six kilometres from Milan, close enough that the two collections have occasionally been confused, and the committee notes for the record that Bergamo's eights are, on the whole, older. Each of the annex's works was photographed in situ, untouched, under existing conditions, and left exactly as it was. Visitors to Bergamo are advised that the collection remains on public display. Every work was last verified on the day of its encounter; what the weather, the council, and the ordinary attrition of the world have since deaccessioned, the museum does not undertake to know.
